Hostile Takeover

Ian Adams, was a technology prodigy at age 10, with his uncanny ability to take apart and reassemble calculators, computers and other electronic devices on a whim.

By the time he was 16 he had graduated MIT, with top honors and a double major in nanotechnology and microbiology. He had also founded his own computer consultant company, Eden Technologies.

By his 25th birthday Ian sat in a plush leather chair, on the top floor, of his 30 story corporate headquarters. Eden Technologies inventions could be found in a wide range of items, from artificial limbs to wrinkle-free pants. It had become a multi-billion dollar company.

In February of 2002, Ian made his greatest discovery, a technology Ian simply named "Eve". By using nanobiotechnology, he was able to construct cellular sized robots that were capable of repairing cells and automatically fighting off harmful bacteria and other diseases. The possibilities were almost limitless. Eve was the cure for cancer, AIDS, and thousands of other illnesses.

But Eve caught the eye of another, larger corporation. Crey Industries. When Crey agents working for Eden caught wind of the project they saw another purpose for it. I military purpose. With the "Eve" technology, Crey could create super soliders that would heal at miraculous rates and thus be almost indestructable.

Crey initially offered to buy Eden Technologies, but when Ian refused the offer, they moved on to plan B. By using the same high ranking Crey agents working inside the Eden corporation, people that Ian thought were his closest friends, Crey convinced Ian to take Eden Technologies public. It was to "allow for faster expansion" and a "broader audience and knowledgebase" to "get the best use out of 'Eve' as possible".

On April 28, 2004, Eden Technologies went public with it's initial public offering, exactly as Crey planned. Crey Industries, quietly purchased the majority of the stock which gave them control of Eden. Ian Adams, the creator of "Eve" found himself powerless from being tossed to the street from his own company.

Ian Adams had to start again. But this time he chose a different path. He had the financial backing to do anything he wanted. He decided the technologies and inventions he had created were meant to serve a better purpose than winkle-free pants. And looking around Paragon City, it was all too clear that the city needed help.

So he took his inventions, and billion dollar bank account and created a force for good. Something to fight for justice in a city surrounded by darkness. And he named this hero after the very thing that drove him from his previous life of high rise offices.
